Conflict Management

A personal approach to conflicts

Conflicts are a chance for personal development!

This would be easy to realise if we did not all have different values, opinions and needs with respect to harmony or conflict

Conflicts arising from the clash of differing expectations are inevitable. Not all conflicts can be resolved to the satisfaction of all concerned. It depends on how they are dealt with before the situation escalates: whether you overcome in a constructive way, or if you avoid them , as previous experience may have made you more cautious.

In the course of our lives we develop our own conflict style. There are different types e.g the Aggressive person, the Passive person, the person who takes flight , the Negotiator etc. Conflicts can be open, hidden, explosive oder simmering below the surface

In order to deal with conflict effectively, managers must be aware of their own attitude to conflict and their own conflict behaviour patterns. They must also know how to analyse the patterns of others. They must be familiar with escalating and de-escalating conflict strategies, as well as specific psychological developments which can often occur in conflict situations.

The essence of this training lies in looking at the way in which we as individuals deal with conflict. This will be done by focusing on examples from our own personal experience i.e. the course members will have ample opportunity to analyse their own patterns of behaviour in conflict situations and to improve these patterns.
